Project Proposal

The theme I chose for the final project was time. I chose this as a theme because as well as being an abstract idea that can be interpreted in many different ways it also is something that effects all of us and the environment around us. Initially after deciding on this I had many different ideas like abstraction and aging. For this unit my chosen specialist pathway will be fine art this gives me more freedom to explore different ideas and letting the art speak for itself. In this specialist pathway I can explore different medias and techniques, especially paint which I would want to practice with and possibly have a final canvas painting.

After gathering all my artist research and generating different ideas I finally decided on the idea of making a landscape painting that shows the passing of time using my own primary source photos of different landscapes. I have chosen landscape painting because it is something I have never tried before this project and I wanted to experiment with a new technique. I will also make quick studies in the landscape, using this to inform my final painting on canvas. Different artists that inspire me for this project are Claud Monet and Richard Diebenkorn, these artists have two very different styles although they have both inspired me in different ways. Monet's work "wheatstacks" is what initially inspired me to make landscapes showing the passing of time. Researching into different landscape painters has helped with gaining an understanding what makes an artwork that's aesthetically pleasing.

The deadline for this project is the 27th of May In the time I have left I will gather as much primary source photos and artworks to then use for my FMP.  I will spend the time to be in the landscape and make multiple different studies of my surroundings. My target audience is the group of people that prefer landscape paintings. My purpose for this work will be to show a moment, suspended  in time and try to express the beauty of the landscape. For the developmental stages of my project I will experiment with different medias before deciding what I will use for my final artwork. From an ethical perspective, because I have personally gone out into the landscape and taken photographs and paintings in the landscape I'm not at any risk of any copyright issues, My work also doesn't include any offensive images of any sexual or political nature.
